Don’t miss any of the activities presented by IVADO at MTL connect 2023

Montreal, August 29, 2023 – In line with the 5th anniversary edition of MTL connect, from October 10 to 13, 2023IVADO joins the event to explore artificial intelligence through the prism of COLLECTIVE INTELLIGENCE. In the meantime, we invite you to immerse yourself in the many activities offered by IVADO.

Artificial intelligence has been at the heart of MTL connect’s concerns since its inception. As a consortium dedicated to research, training and the dissemination of knowledge in the field of artificial intelligence, IVADO is the obvious choice for an informed approach to this topic.

1. INTERVIEW ON GENERATIVE IA WITH YOSHUA BENGIO & MARC-ANTOINE DILHAC

Yoshua Bengio and Marc-Antoine Dilhac will address a crucial topic: The potential benefits and risks to society and humanity of AI systems with human-like intelligence.

Yoshua Bengio, recognized as one of the world’s leading authorities on artificial intelligence, is IVADO’s Scientific Director and also Mila’s founder and Scientific Director.

Marc-Antoine Dilhac is Professor of Ethics and Political Philosophy at the Université de Montréal and an associate member of Mila. He is the instigator of La Déclaration de Montréal pour un développement responsable de l’intelligence artificielle.

The rapid evolution of artificial intelligence is arousing growing interest and raising complex questions about its impact on society and humanity. In their talk, they will explore the positive aspects and challenges inherent in high-intelligence AI systems in a nuanced and informed way. In this way, they will help shape a deeper understanding of the implications of these technological advances on our society and our destiny as a species.

Join us on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at 11am for this unique opportunity to meet and listen to one of the world’s leading experts in artificial intelligence!

2. SECTORS OF EXCELLENCE MEETING

The Sectors of Excellence meetings showcase Quebec’s ecosystems of excellence, consolidating the region’s position as a technological leader.

With this in mind, IVADO will be presenting a session focusing on the importance of women in technology. This will be an opportunity to showcase some of the projects led by women in AI, and to highlight the importance of gender diversity in technology.

Join us on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at 9am to discover the remarkable achievements of women in industry!

3. WORKSHOP PRESENTED BY IVADO: A little, a lot, passionately: Our love/hate relationship with AI

Between well-adopted AIs like Siri and Google Maps that we can’t live without, and more controversial AIs like the autonomous car and ChatGPT, why are humans so ambivalent about the role of AI in our society? Come and discover and discuss the role of AI with Pierre-Majorique Léger and Sylvain Senécal, professors at HEC Montreal, co-directors of the Tech3Lab and researchers in the IVADO ecosystem. They are leading a strategic research program on the responsible development, acceptance and framing of AI in different contexts such as education, the future of work, transportation and service providers.

Join us for a sneak preview of the results of IVADO’s research program on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at 4:15pm! Together, let’s draw the outlines of a future where AI serves our society in an enlightened and ethical way.
