MTL connect 2020: A great success, a global impact!

Montreal, November 5, 2020 — It is under the sign of boldness and innovation that Montreal Digital Spring (Printemps numérique) held the second edition of MTL connect: Montreal Digital Week, 100% online from October 13 to 18, 2020.

One of the main objectives of Montreal Digital Spring was to connect participants with each other. Mission accomplished, as more than 16,000 interactions between participants took place via the online platforms offered.

  • 474 sessions: 308 conferences, 107 workshops and 59 panels
  • +600 speakers and 133 local and international artists
  • +300 hours of content: 12 hours of live content per day on 6 channels
  • 1,732 visitors to the ISEA2020 artistic website
  • 229 visitors in the virtual world
  • 9 thematic Pavilions: Cybersecurity and digital identity / AI, IoT and 4.0 / FinTech / City of the future / Future of Work / Creativity – ISEA2020 / Health / Education / Sustainable development.

A RICH AND DIVERSIFIED PROGRAM

The event also offered a tech zone with an award ceremony: the MTL Tech Awards, an e-Job Fair, expert consultation clinics, express coaching, smart networking, business meetings through the presence of international and local delegations, and networking moments with After Hours in the virtual world of Montreal Digital Spring.

 
SPECIAL EVENTS

Among them:

  • Smart Buildings and Communities, from Germany and Quebec: in partnership with the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Montreal;
  • Le Festival du Monde: 3 sessions led by journalists from the newspaper Le Monde, in collaboration with the Consulate of France in Quebec City and with the support of the Ministry of International Relations and Francophonie of the Government of Quebec;
  • Holt Fintech Show: presented in collaboration with Holt Accelerator.

Among those present were Éric Caire, Quebec’s Minister for Government Digital Transformation; Audrey Tang, Minister of Digital (Taiwan); Sir Rob Wainwright, Senior Partner at Deloitte (Netherlands) and ex. Director General of Europol; Alissa Knight, Hacker (USA); Jean-Gabriel Ganascia, computer scientist and philosopher Sorbonne University – President of COMETS, Ethics Committee of the CNRS (France); Jeanne Holm, Director of Data Systems (CDO) and Senior Technology Advisor to the Mayor of Los Angeles (USA); and Victor Riparbelli, Co-founder and CEO of Synthesia (Great Britain).

We would also like to underline the Franco-Quebec collaboration highlighted, in particular, by the exchanges between the following cities:

A great success for Montreal Digital Spring, for whom MTL connect is: the future to be built together and the development of new collaborations to strengthen Montreal as the digital capital of the world. In this context, a third edition will take place in October 2021, in a hybrid format. Save the date, see you next year!

On this occasion, innovative companies, organizations, institutions, and individuals are invited to submit their entries to present their projects in front of a panel of expert judges. Multiple awards are up for grabs.
