Protect your data, protect your future

For another year, Montreal Digital Spring (Printemps numérique) looks at cybersecurity issues and challenges at MTL connect. Join us for the 5th anniversary edition, from October 10 to 13, 2023, at Montreal’s NAD School and online.

Cybersecurity has become a major issue in our interconnected digital world. One of the crucial questions is how to involve the various sectors and players in protecting private and sensitive data. Collaboration between governments, companies and individuals is essential to guarantee optimal digital security. All the more so as this will only evolve as our dependence on technology continues to grow. In a landscape where cyber threats are constantly evolving, it’s imperative to stay at the forefront of advances in cybersecurity.

MTL connects’ varied program will provide an exceptional opportunity to take stock of these pressing issues. Industry experts will gather to discuss the latest trends in cybersecurity, explore innovative solutions and share crucial knowledge to protect our IT systems and sensitive data.

Here’s an overview of activities not to be missed:

Conference on cybersecurity challenges and opportunities with Phedra Clouner

Every day, the media reports on cyber attacks with dramatic consequences for organizations. What are the types of attack, their perpetrators and motivations? How is the Belgian Cybersecurity Agency reinforcing digital security to make Belgium one of the least vulnerable European countries by 2025? Phedra Clouner, Phedra Clouner, Deputy Director General of the Center for Cybersecurity Belgium, will answer these questions in her talk, revealing the agency’s actions and successes.

Workshop on safety culture in development teams by Mathy Scott

Mathy Scott (Akinox) will present an approach aimed at generating interest and developing cybersecurity expertise within development teams. This method reduces the risks associated with software development, particularly in cases where hiring several security experts is not an option.

Data privacy workshop by William Simetin Grenon

When it comes to collective innovation, information sharing is a must. However, in environments where confidential data is at stake, collaboration often becomes a major challenge. Federated learning is emerging as a solution in this context.  William Simetin Grenon (Explore AI) will explain how a machine learning technique enables models to be trained in a decentralized way, distributed across multiple mobile devices or clients, without centralizing or storing data in a single location. This revolutionary approach stimulates innovation while scrupulously preserving the confidentiality of the data used to train models.

And don’t miss:

Join us on Thursday, October 12 at the NAD School (Montreal) and online to keep abreast of cybersecurity issues and help make cyberspace safer for everyone.

Stay tuned for upcoming communications on MTL connect programming!
