Once again this year, the theme of artificial intelligence will be addressed in a techno-critical way at MTL connect. Rendez-vous à la 5e édition anniversaire, du 10 au 13 octobre 2023, à l’école NAD de Montréal et en ligne.
Artificial intelligence has been at the heart of Montreal Digital Spring (Printemps numérique) since its inception, and today more than ever, it raises many questions. Indeed, the influence of AI is undeniably growing in our contemporary society. From autonomous cars to early cancer detection, from virtual assistants to online content recommendation, AI has the potential to bring immense benefits to humanity by improving efficiency, accuracy and productivity in many fields. However, the rise of generative AI brings with it a host of key questions that are generating passionate debate, both here and around the world.
This year’s varied program promises to offer stimulating reflections, driven by points of view that are sometimes convergent, sometimes complementary. In addition to the already-announced discussion between Yoshua Bengio (IVADO) and Marc-Antoine Dilhac (Université de Montréal) on the potential benefits and risks of AI systems, here’s an overview of not-to-be-missed activities:
Workshop on mobilizing collective intelligence to guide the evolution of AI in education by Philippe Longchamps
Dive into the heart of AI issues in education through a multimodal and interactive workshop. Philippe Longchamps (Integreateach) will invite participants to explore the interactions between AI and learning, while discussing the challenges and opportunities it brings.
Workshop on language models and the future of AI by
Guillaume Vanhalst
Guillaume Vanhalst (Effixis) will explore how large language models like GPT-4 can revolutionize artificial intelligence. The presentation will focus on their innovative uses in medicine and cybersecurity, from text creation and natural language understanding to revolutionary human-machine interfaces. Ethical aspects and challenges related to their use will also be discussed. Discover how these models are transforming our interaction with machines and shaping the future of AI.
Panel discussion on financing artificial intelligence projects by Dr. Samir Mounir
Are we currently in a phase of opportunity or challenge when it comes to the impact of this technology on our modern society? Entrepreneurs and investors, join the discussion with Dr. Samir Mounir (Desjardins) to identify win-win solutions. Join this panel to discuss the financing of AI projects and the resulting opportunities.
And don’t miss:
- Keynote by Delphine Le Serre
