Congratulations to the winners of the MTL Tech Awards 2020

The first edition of the MTL Tech Awards, an international innovation competition, took place this year during MTL connect: Printemps numérique de Montréal, from October 13 to 18, 2020.

MTL connect has a mission to contribute, in particular, to economic recovery and to be a meeting place for digital minds from around the world! With the support of the Ville de Montréal, the MTL Tech Awards made it possible to highlight innovations from startups, as well as to facilitate business networking with companies and organizations participating in Printemps numérique de Montréal.

“We need you more than ever. Innovation must be part of the solution to get through this crisis. Startups have the agility and dynamism that large companies sometimes lack. But we need a combination of both to move forward,” mentioned Géraldine Martin, Director of Entrepreneurship at the Ville de Montréal, during the awards ceremony broadcast on the main stage of MTL connect on October 16.

For weeks, dozens of startups from around the world participated with their video pitches. Indeed, applications from Chile, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, France, Israel, Canada, and Côte d’Ivoire were received and analyzed. The jury, composed of experts in technological innovation, entrepreneurship, and investors, selected 27 nominees from the fifty projects in the running. By being among the nominees, these startups were able to take part in the MTL connect adventure and showcase their innovations in the Tech Zone of the event to connect with potential clients, investors, incubators, or business partners.

And the big winners are:

1. The People’s Choice Award, which is the result of several hundred votes from participants via the platform, was awarded live by Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton and QuébecInnove to Off the Grid, a Montreal-based startup co-founded by Charles Couture-Lebrun.

2. The Revelation Award was presented by La Caisse Desjardins des TI and Prompt to the French company The Green Link, co-founded by Bernard Lebelle.

3. And finally, the Grand Prize of the MTL Tech Awards 2020 was awarded by OVHcloud and Deloitte to an Israeli company, Serenus AI, co-founded by Hillary Harel.

The three winners shared over $60,000 in prizes, including cash awards of $1,000, $2,000, and $3,000 respectively, as well as numerous business support services.
