MTL connect unveils “Act” as the theme of its 2027 edition

Montreal, October 20, 2026 — Printemps numérique has announced the central theme of the 9th edition of MTL connect: “Act: Choosing Our Digital Futures.” The event will take place October 19–22, 2027, at the Société des arts technologiques (SAT) in Montreal, with Tunisia as the Country of Honour.

A resounding success for the 2026 edition

The 8th edition of MTL connect, held from October 13 to 16, 2026, was a resounding success, bringing together thousands of participants from Quebec and around the world, both in person and online. Early public feedback has highlighted the warm welcome, the richness of the discussions, and the meaningful connections established or strengthened among participants and international delegations. A comprehensive report on the edition’s achievements and impact will be released shortly.

Shaping the direction of digital transformation

As artificial intelligence becomes increasingly capable of performing tasks and influencing decisions, Act calls on us to take ownership of digital transformation and turn intentions into action. It is about choosing what we delegate to technology, determining how it is used, and ensuring that its benefits are shared. The theme places people, businesses, and communities at the heart of these choices and the initiatives they inspire.

Building on the discussions around digital sovereignty in 2026, MTL connect will continue the dialogue on how to shape digital transformation and foster collaboration across business, research, culture, and communities.

“Technology expands what we are capable of doing. It is up to us to decide what we want to do with it, with whom, and for whose benefit. With Act, we want to empower people and organizations to take part in the decisions that shape their digital futures.”

— Caroline Roy, Chair of the Board of Directors, Printemps numérique

Tunisia takes centre stage in 2027

Tunisia will be the Country of Honour for the 2027 edition. This special designation will create opportunities for Tunisian, Quebec, Canadian, and international stakeholders to connect around innovation, creativity, and digital transformation. It reflects MTL connect’s commitment to bringing ecosystems closer together and fostering collaboration across the global Francophone digital community.

A symbolic handover ceremony took place on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at 5:45 p.m., in the Satosphere at the Société des arts technologiques (SAT) in Montreal, during MTL connect 2026. The ceremony brought together Zahra Kamil Ali, Representative of the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF) for the Americas, and Kamel Makkes, Consul of Tunisia in Montreal, accompanied by Sofiane Bouziri, the President of the Tunisian-Canadian Business Network (RTCA). This symbolic gesture marked the transition from La Francophonie, honoured in 2026, to Tunisia, the Country of Honour in 2027.

The event will retain its four core pillars: Artificial Intelligence; Culture & Creativity; Cybersecurity & Digital Identity; and Territories & Humanities. Further details regarding the program and participation opportunities will be announced in the coming months.
