Montreal, October 10, 2023 — Recognizing the impact of digital events on the digital ecosystem and territories, the organizers of MTL connect [Printemps numérique] and Nantes Digital Week [La Cité des Congrès de Nantes] have signed a joint, binding declaration on ethical AI. This initiative is a first in the field of digital festivals and strengthens the already solid partnership between Montreal and Nantes.
The declaration was signed by Francky Trichet, councillor, president of La Cité des Congrès de Nantes and vice-president of Nantes Métropole for innovation and digital, and Mehdi Benboubakeur, general director of Printemps numérique. This partnership perfectly illustrates how two cities can collaborate to promote shared values in the digital sector.
A call to action for the sector
The organizers invite all events that share these values to join this commitment. The main axes of the pact include:
- Promote equity and inclusivity in all discussions and presentations on AI.
- Promote transparency and accountability in the development and use of AI.
- Encourage AI accessibility. This means we will strive to make AI understandable and accessible to all, regardless of their technical background.
- Promote the openness of algorithms and source code, and encourage the emergence of open standards to foster collaboration and innovation.
- Educate and raise awareness among our participants about the ethical implications of AI and raise awareness of these issues.
- Collaborate and share knowledge and best practices in ethical AI.
Meet to discuss the issues
Discussions on these critical issues will continue at MTL connect from October 10 to 13 at the NAD in Montreal, where a delegation from Nantes will be present.
