Biographie
Rojin Shafiei (born in 1993) is an Iranian interdisciplinary artist and filmmaker who lives and works in Toronto. In her works, art is a vehicle for translating cultural messages and serves to present various feminine subjectivities. She addresses these themes both in a literal documentary style and through symbols. Rojin earned her BFA in Intermedia from Concordia University in 2017 and is currently a candidate for an MFA in Film Production at York University. Her works have been screened internationally at various festivals, including the Rendez-Vous du Cinéma Québécois (Canada), the Casablanca International Video Festival (Morocco), the Limited Access Video Festival (Tehran), and Instant Vidéo Numériques et Poétiques (France). In 2019, she was a candidate for the Venice Lands Art Prize in Treviso, Italy, and in July 2018, she won the grand prize in the Startupfest/Artupfest section for her work « I wait for the time ».
