Biographie
Born on January 21, 1993 in Rufisque, Ousseynou Gueye is a former child soldier of the Prytanée Militaire de Saint-Louis. He holds a Master’s degree in Political Science from Université Gustave Eiffel in Paris, with research focused on community organizing and citizen participation mechanisms.
After his studies, Ousseynou worked in Paris for the Google Ateliers Numérique program, a Google initiative in France aimed at training young people in digital, social, civic and professional skills.
In 2019, he decided to return to Senegal and contribute to his country’s emergence by bringing his experience and expertise. Selected three years in a row (2021, 2022 and 2023) among the 100 most influential young Senegalese, Ousseynou founded Polaris Asso, a Franco-Senegalese non-profit association that inspires, prepares and mobilizes youth to tackle the major challenges of a constantly evolving world facing unprecedented problems.
By combining research, field engagement, social and political mediation, and the use of digital tools, Polaris Asso aims to become the first civictech in Francophone Africa by encouraging young people to actively participate in transforming social and political institutions through dialogue. The goal is to help them make these institutions more responsive to their needs and concerns.
Today, Polaris Asso carries out actions in 5 Sahel countries: Senegal, Mali, Gambia, Côte d’Ivoire and Benin, and employs around twenty collaborators.
