Biographie
Lyse Langlois, Ph.D., is the director of Obvia – International Observatory on the Societal Impacts of AI and Digital Technology in Quebec, Canada (https://www.obvia.ca/), funded by the Fonds de recherche du Québec (FRQ). She is a full professor in the Department of Industrial Relations at Université Laval (www.ulaval.ca). She served as Vice-Dean of Research at the Faculty of Social Sciences of Université Laval and was the director of the Institute of Applied Ethics for seven years. Professor Langlois is a regular researcher at the Interuniversity Research Centre on Globalization and Work (www.crimt.org). She received the Willower Excellence Award (2018-USA) for the exceptional nature of her contribution, which has helped to better understand the theoretical and practical aspects of ethics. Her current research focuses on AI ethics and the societal impacts of AI and digital technology. She co-led the working group set up by the Innovation Council (Ministry of the Economy, Innovation and Energy) with Jocelyn Maclure and Sophie Fallaha to produce recommendations on the societal impacts of AI in the following areas: democracy, culture, and the environment. https://conseilinnovation.quebec/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Rapport_IA_CIQ-1.pdf Professor Langlois is a member of the expert committee mandated by the Government of Quebec on cybersecurity and digital technology, as well as the new national consultation body on higher education, which will address issues related to the use of AI. She collaborates with several international research groups aiming to better understand the societal and ethical impacts of AI.
