Biographie
Luc Vinet was appointed Director General of IVADO in August 2021, the culmination of a long and brilliant academic career. Aisenstadt Professor in the Department of Physics at the Université de Montréal, Luc Vinet is a world-renowned physicist and mathematician who also has extensive experience in university administration. From 1999 to 2005, he served as Executive Vice-Principal and Vice-Principal (Academic) at McGill University, before being appointed Rector of the Université de Montréal, a position he held from 2005 to 2010. Prof. Vinet was also Director of the Centre de recherches mathématiques (CRM) at the Université de Montréal from 1993 to 1999 and again from 2013 to 2021. In addition to being one of the founders of MITACS, Canada’s most recognized network of centres of excellence, he played a key role in the creation of numerous other research networks in Quebec and Canada.
