Biographie
Since 2016, Kathy Baig, Eng., MBA, ASC, has been President of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec, the organization that regulates and supports some 65,000 engineering professionals in Quebec. Under her leadership, the Order developed and implemented the ING2020 Plan and the ING 20-25 Plan to be the reference in public protection within the Quebec professional system. She distinguished herself through her exceptional contribution to restoring confidence in the engineering profession following the Charbonneau Commission.
Her achievements have been recognized by the École de technologie supérieure (Honorary Doctorate), the Fédération des chambres de commerce du Québec (Mercure Award for Leadership), Engineers Canada (Fellow), the national organization that brings together the 12 engineering regulatory bodies in the country, and the Canadian Academy of Engineering (Fellow). She also received the Canada’s Top 40 under 40 award in the 2019 edition of this prestigious national competition.
Kathy Baig makes an important contribution as a member of the boards of directors of Via Rail Canada, the Institut national d’optique (INO), Engineers Canada, and Maison Saint-Gabriel.
Before her election as President of the OIQ, Kathy Baig had a career in engineering for over 10 years, working for multinational companies (IBM, Johnson & Johnson), an SME (Pyrogenesis), and for Aéroports de Montréal (ADM), the company that operates and develops the two international airports in the Montreal region.
Kathy Baig holds a degree in chemical engineering (Polytechnique Montréal) and a business administration degree (HEC Montréal). She also holds a certification in governance from the Collège des administrateurs de sociétés at Université Laval.
