Biographie
Based in Barcelona, he has over 20 years of experience working in various large companies and SMEs across Europe and internationally, as well as in a startup specialising in the development of tools for studying and managing resilience, of which he was a co-founder.
He has participated in the implementation of several pioneering initiatives to introduce the concept of resilience in city management and the critical infrastructures of organisations. In Europe, he is a resilience trainer in various master’s programmes and professional training courses on “Smart Cities”, the Internet of Things and Territorial Resilience Strategy.
Mr. Fontanals contributed to the creation of the public-private partnership “BCN Urban Resilience” with the city of Barcelona and UN-Habitat, now transformed into the «Urban Resilience Hub», and he has led more than a dozen projects on resilience with various cities in Spain, as well as in France, Portugal and England.
Finally, he was a contributor to a major innovation project on urban resilience and climate change as part of the research actions funded by the European Union’s H2020 programme.
