Biographie
Christophe Vanmuysen is a civil engineer in construction by training and has had a career in the Walloon Administration, primarily in the field of infrastructure and waterways. As General Inspector within the Hydraulic and Environmental Expertise Department of the Public Service for Mobility & Infrastructure, he is notably responsible for the technical, administrative, financial, and operational supervision of several large-scale projects underway or planned on Walloon waterways. The development and modernisation of river infrastructure and canals in Wallonia to adapt them to the dimensions of tomorrow’s barges and convoys indeed represent a major environmental and economic challenge at both the regional and broader European level, in light of projects supported under co-financing initiatives such as the TEN-T (Trans-European Transport Network). In this context, and more specifically within the programming and execution of the project to modernise the crossing of the Scheldt in Tournai, he initiated a pilot approach at the Walloon level that integrates CO₂ emission reduction from the public procurement award process and throughout its implementation, thanks to the development of an encoding and emission monitoring application.
