Biographie
Christl Baur is the director of the Ars Electronica Festival and a researcher with an interdisciplinary background in art history, cultural management, and natural sciences. She is particularly interested in the convergence of aesthetic and social practices focused on collaboration and experimentation, which challenge dominant social, political, and economic protocols. Her research covers topics such as video art, new media technologies, computer art, biotechnology, and interactive art, and she works at the intersection of art and science.
In recent years, she has curated, produced, and realised large-scale exhibitions and performances, as well as research, residency, and publication projects—most recently in collaboration with universities and scientific associations such as Google Arts & Culture, Microsoft, and Hyundai, as well as the Chinese University of Art Beijing. She works in close collaboration with artists whose practice lies at the interface of art, science, and technology.
