Biographie
Full Professor in the Department of Civil, Geological and Mining Engineering at Polytechnique Montréal and co-holder of the Industrial Chair in Drinking Water. He has also been the Director of CREDEAU since 2011. With over 200 publications and 250 conferences to his credit, he is recognized for his innovative work on drinking water treatment processes. He has authored chapters of Quebec’s Guide to the Design of Drinking Water Treatment Facilities. Prof. Barbeau worked within RES’EAU-WaterNET, a strategic NSERC network dedicated to finding new drinking water treatment solutions for small rural communities, which led to the development of the BIEX process. He has worked with over 60 municipalities across Canada to assist them in diagnosing, selecting, and optimizing their water infrastructure. His work on manganese supported Health Canada’s revision of its recommendation regarding this contaminant in drinking water.
