Montreal, September 27, 2021 – The Printemps numérique (PN) unveils its artistic programming, taking place online and in person from October 12 to 17, 2021, as part of the Culture and Creativity theme, presented by Synapse C, of MTL connect: Montreal’s Digital Week.
This year, MTL connect brings together 50 artists, established, mid-career, or emerging, as well as Speakers who will participate in in-person or online performances, panels, keynote presentations, video screenings, and workshops.
This edition highlights audiovisual works created around 2020–2021, a period that brought unique perspectives in the context of a global pandemic. These works will explore a range of themes such as social interactions and new ways of projecting ourselves into the future.
The Printemps numérique, in line with the core of its artistic vision, works closely with local and international organizations and artists to create, rethink, and act on urgent issues that impact our communities in Montreal, Canada, and beyond.
OPENING NIGHT

After organizing ISEA2020 (International Symposium on Electronic Art) last fall, the PN feels reinvigorated and wishes to share with a Montreal and international audience a series of conversations and panels with influential thinkers. Urgent issues related to the aesthetics, ethics, and politics of transformative new technologies and the digital world will be addressed. This program will be broadcast online from NAD School and Concordia University.

A touring program from October 12 to 17
The Printemps numérique, in partnership with Printemps numérique de Bruxelles and Milieux (Concordia University), will present a touring video program designed to reach a wide audience while taking into account accessibility and safety measures in a pandemic context.
From October 12 to 17, 2021, two trucks equipped with large LED screens will travel through these two cities, showcasing the works of 12 Belgian and Canadian artists.

INTERNATIONAL DELEGATION
MTL connect will host three workshops aimed at fostering collaboration between local and international organizations, such as media art festivals, galleries, museums, and artist-run spaces. These workshops will be by invitation only and will take place in an experimental “speed-dating” format with media art organizations. Their goal will be to bring visibility to Montreal artists while supporting local organizations by creating concrete forms of exchange with international curators and institutions. Our international guests include Ars Electronica, FILE Festival, and the Whitney Museum.
IN PARTNERSHIP WITH CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY
A hybrid program with panels, workshops, and online performances will be presented in collaboration with Milieux, Institute for Arts, Culture and Technology, 4th Space, as well as other researchers and research hubs at Concordia.
