Biographie
Jean-François has over 25 years of experience at IBM Canada, where his role is to understand and explain the impacts of technology on society and the environment. He was part of the group that gave rise to the Smart City concept.
His presentations address current themes: how to respond to climate change, innovations in smart cities, and the impacts of autonomous vehicles. He regularly advises smart city startups and collaborates on large-scale projects with several Canadian universities, particularly in Quantum Computing.
In 2008, he committed to volunteering with the foundation of former US Vice-President Al Gore; since 2011, he has sat on its board of directors—the “Climate Reality Project Canada”—and has chaired the board since 2020.
He chairs the advisory committee of the Montreal Chamber of Commerce for Disruptive Technologies, sits on the board of directors of the Canadian Water Network as vice-president, and is the outgoing director of the Smart Mobility Expert Panel of the AQTr.
He is also a member of the monitoring committee for Quebec’s Sustainable Mobility Policy and has advised Canada’s Environment Commissioner on green technology policies.
