Biographie
Raoul Sommeillier is an engineer, cultural entrepreneur, scientific researcher and artist manager. His academic background and career reflect a need to hybridise his eclectic passions and a deep desire to break down the barriers between disciplines. He holds a double master’s degree in engineering specialising in mechatronics, an advanced master’s in technological and industrial management, as well as a PhD in applied science didactics. His research focuses on scientific preconceptions acting as obstacles to learning and on strategies to overcome these preconceived ideas. A recipient of the Wernaers grant (F.N.R.S.) for specialisation in science communication and popularisation, he is also interested in collaborative and transdisciplinary methodologies, as well as the impact of integrating arts and design into science awareness, research and technology processes.
Raoul is one of the co-founders of Ohme, a Brussels-based production and research organisation that explores and exploits the links between arts and sciences. There, he heads the Academia division, which develops academic projects in partnership with art schools and universities, as well as the Lab division, which uses scientific and technical R&D as a driver for artistic creation. He is also the manager of electronic music producer OTON and its label Alliance Club.
