Biographie
Sylvain Carle has spent the last 25 years thinking, writing, developing and investing in emerging technologies. Although he did not study computer science, he has always been a hacker at heart and has spent most of his startup entrepreneur career at the intersection of media, technology, data and networks.
He loves sharing his experience and is a strong advocate for collaboration as a concrete way to move things forward. He has been the instigator and administrator of several non-profit organizations and associations, including FACIL, Île-Sans-Fil, Alliance Numérique, OSMO, Startup Festival, MAIN, MT LAB, Réseau Capital, Propulsion Québec (and a few others).
Socialist, idealist and pragmatic, he is convinced that technology can change the world for the better, in this era of networked society. He enjoys investing in ideas and people who transform sectors and industries. Urban, local, sustainable, fair, open, transparent and more human: this is how he hopes the world and technology will evolve.
He is a Principal Director at SecondMuse Capital’s Montreal office, working on the development of entrepreneurial ecosystems in climate innovation. He was associated with the Real Ventures fund from 2014 to 2020, where he remains affiliated.
