Biographie
Philippe Beaudoin is a researcher, developer and entrepreneur attuned to the spark that lights up in everyone’s eyes.
He first explored human movement and robotics by completing a PhD at the Université de Montréal and a post-doc at the University of British Columbia. Then, as a senior engineer at Google, he helped improve Chrome’s recommendation systems. In 2016, he co-founded Element AI, convinced that artificial intelligence needed to be brought closer to the real world.
In 2020, however, Philippe had a powerful realization that would redefine the rest of his journey: some technologies, supposedly designed to “understand us better,” instead tend to highlight our least flattering habits—thus trapping us in patterns we often regret. It then became clear to him that he needed to work toward aligning technical systems with human flourishing. With this in mind, he later founded Waverly to explore how language and dialogue could help create more enriching social networks. Spaces where aspirations, doubts and authenticity would have their place.
By joining LawZero in 2025, he continues this quest: contributing to building an artificial intelligence that recognizes—and supports—human flourishing, a necessary condition, in his view, for technology to be truly beneficial.
