Maroun holds a bachelor and a master’s degree in engineering Physics from Polytechnique Montreal. He joined the National Research Council of Canada in 1999 in the Laser-Ultrasonic non-destructive testing group. He pursued his career in the private sector, mainly in R&D in the telecommunication, digital printing and engineering services sectors. Maroun joined Optech in 2010 and manages development, innovation and business development. In his 20 years of experience in optical engineering, Maroun structured, supported and supervised more than 1000 optical engineering projects, in 12 countries; from the proof of concept phases to the manufacturing implementation. Maroun is a member of several comity and sectoral clusters and actively participates in the development of Quebec’s innovation ecosystem.
Optech is a college centre for technology transfer in optics and photonics. We are specialized in optical fibres and sensors, imaging and illumination, metrology, microsystems and biophotonics. We help companies innovate through applied research and product and process development. We work as project supervisors for integrated projects – from design to prototyping and testing – as well as on specific subsystems of a larger project in collaboration with our partners and clients.
