Pursuing a thriving career in teaching and basic and applied research, Gilles Savard possesses extensive experience in university management, as well as an in-depth understanding of the drivers of innovation and technology transfer. From 2001 to 2007, he headed the Mathematics and Industrial Engineering Department at Polytechnique Montréal and served as the institute’s director of research, innovation and international affairs from 2007 to 2017. He was appointed CEO of IVADO in October 2016.
Gilles Savard is a recognized expert in two-level mathematical programming. For 20 years, he led research projects with the Department of National Defence, which relies on peace mission planning tools. He has published over 100 scientific papers in major journals in the field of operations research and supervised nearly 80 students and highly qualified staff members. He set out an innovative methodological approach to revenue management that led ExPretio, a university spin-off, to markets revenue management tools to airline and railway companies. In 2017, he was named person of the year in innovation by the Association des directeurs de recherche industrielle du Québec (ADRIQ).
IVADO aims to bring together industry professionals and academic researchers to develop cutting-edge expertise in data science, operational research and artificial intelligence. IVADO members provide data management methods and inform decision making for optimal resource use. In essence, IVADO creates opportunities for knowledge exchange and collaborations between the specialists, partners, researchers and students in its network.
